Laila Marie Angel, 103, passed January 11, 2018 at Carriage Inn. She was born on April 10, 1914 in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of the late Anton & Hilma Stenruss Huhtala, whom immigrated to the U.S. from Finland in 1906. The family moved to Steubenville in 1914 and Laila graduated from Steubenville High School in 1932 and Steubenville Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper at Butte Laundry and Star Laundry & Dry Cleaners. Preceding Laila in death was her brother Eugene. Laila loved feeding the birds in her backyard and playing Scrabble. She could speak, read and write in the Finnish language.
Laila is survived by her dear friends, Sandy and Greg Day of Wintersville.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Monday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. services with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.
