Obituary For Kenneth R. "Lumpy" Dawson

Kenneth R. “Lumpy” Dawson, 70, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Trinity West. He was born in Steubenville on May 24, 1952 a son of the late Roy & Elsie Long Dawson, Jr. He was a retired Weirton Steel Co. pipefitter. Lumpy was a member of Brentwood UM Church; Toronto American Legion and Army National Guard.

Preceding Lumpy in death were his parents; wife Joan Robin Fix Dawson; brothers Rick & Randy Dawson.

Lumpy is survived by his son Wayne (Brianne) Dawson of Steubenville; daughter Kenijo “KJ” (Michael) Wood of Calcutta, Ohio; nine grandchildren Ethan, Isaac, Joanie & Georgia Grace Wood, Alexis Dawson, Haley Smith, and Ted, Thomas & Michael Wood, Jr.; six great grandchildren; siblings Lonnie (Raelene) Dawson of Manhattan, Kansas, Susan Kendall of Wintersville and Marti Lower of Steubenville; canine companions Buckeye & Pearl and several nieces & nephews.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Bill Westling officiating. Private entombment at Fort Steuben.

    Wayne, KeniJo, and family,We are so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Lumpy has been a life long friend, from school to work, to 42 years of Christmas cards, don't believe he ever miss one. He will be truly missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.God Bless

    We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Lumpy. He will be remembered fondly by everyone that knew him. He was always so kind and friendly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

    I worked with Lumpy in the mill. He was a great guy to work with and to talk to. My condolences to his family. May he rest in the peace of the Lord. Amen.
