Obituary For Kenneth R. "Bob" Simpson

Kenneth R. “Bob” Simpson, 81, of Wintersville, Ohio, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Trinity West after a short illness. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on March 8, 1943 a son of the late Kenneth & Evelyn Adams Simpson. Bob graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1961 from Warren Consolidated High School. He began working for Hart’s Department Store in 1964 and retired from Big Bear Plus as store director after 33 years of service. Bob then worked for ADP, Pittsburgh, PA from 1999 until 2010. Bob attended Blessed Sacrament Church, where he was a member of the Pierogi Crew and Boccie League.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Candace Simpson and sister Karen Howell.

Bob is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Jeanne C. Holzopfel Simpson, whom he married on November 16, 1963; son Robert of Mingo Junction; daughter Tracy of Wintersville; brother David of Martins Ferry; sister Sandra Hostetler of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughters Kalynne Simpson & Krysten (Shawn) Karnich; great grandson Brayden Leroy, who was his little helper and whose baseball and football games he loved attending to cheer him on; best friends Gerald & Linda Vogt of Mingo Junction; many close nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 4 – 7 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with Rev Michael Gossett officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.

    I worked with " the big guy" for over 30 years. He was a friend and one of the best managers I have ever had.I owe my career mostly to Mr. Simpson as he was the one who taught me payroll and many hr duties.He was my mentor.RIP Big Guy.

    Best Manager I ever had. He was your boss first and then a friend. He had integrity and cared about his people. His smile let you know " the Big Guys" happy. I know he's smiling now! You were loved and will be missed.
