Kenneth L. “Kenny” Hores 75 of Wintersville, Ohio died Wednesday evening, August 28, 2002 at Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on April 30, 1927 on Wheeling Island, WV a son of the late Joseph and Martha Castilow Hores, Sr. Kenny was retired from Weirton Steel Co. as a pipefitter and attended Brentwood U.M. Church in Wintersville. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 45 F& AM; Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville; Steubenville Shrine Club and The 25 Year Club and a Navy veteran of WWII. For many years, Kenny enriched the community in the role of Santa Claus. He was preceded in death by one brother Joseph. Surviving are his wife Betty Jo Fisher Hores whom he married on June 9, 1949; two daughters Pam (Charles) Skipper of Phoenix, AZ and Beth Ann Rupert of Wintersville; one brother Russell (Mitzie) Hores of Bridgeport, Ohio; three sisters Betty Lou Shurtz of Carrollton, Ohio, Garnell (Carl) Thompson of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Rose Brumback of Amsterdam, Ohio; two grandchildren Kenny Rupert and Char Rupert. Because of his love for children, Kenny was a surrogate grandfather to many. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville on Sunday 1-4 and 7-9 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. David Martin officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brentwood U.M. Church, 148 Stephens St., Wintersville, OH 43953. Masonic Lodge 45 services 7 p.m. Sunday.
