Obituary For Kenneth J. "Jerry" Higgs

Kenneth J. “Jerry” Higgs, 84 of Hamilton, Ohio died Monday, October 18, 2010 at home. A former resident of Bloomingdale (Belvedere), he moved to Florida in 1983 and to Hamilton in 1988.  He was born February 15, 1926 in Martins Ferry, Ohio the son of the late Kenneth J. & Mary Ruth Reef Higgs.  He  retired from Weirton Steel Co. B.O.P. in 1983 and upon his retirement worked as a consultant for the mill. He was an accomplished home builder and private pilot of his own plane. Jerry was a Navy veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife Myra Fisher Higgs; six children Kenneth J. (Barbara) Higgs of Toronto, Barbara (Paul) Block of Cincinnati, Joyce (Dave) Baldrof of Follansbee, Mitchell Higgs of Weirton, Mark Higgs & Rodger (Kathy) Higgs  both of  Maryland; two stepsons John (Jodi) Bianchini of Wintersville & James (Stephanie) Bianchini of Middletown, OH; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and his pet beagle Prissy. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 1-6 p.m. Services 1 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Terry Mohr officiating. (Everyone please meet at church) Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimers Association.

    dear higgs family, so sorry to read your dad has passed away. i do remember all of you and was sorry to read your dad has passed away. my thoughts and prayers are with you all. i remember pottery so well and all the good times we all shared at briar hill and good old pottery addition.
