Kathryn E. LaRue, 91, of Jacksonville, FL passed peacefully on April 18, 2019, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born November 13, 1927, she lived in Wintersville, OH, and was the daughter of Clyde P. and Kathryn E. Dunn. Through difficult circumstances, in rural Steubenville, OH, she managed to raise three daughters with love and compassion, giving them the foundation for the good life she wanted for them. She was active in her church (one of the first female Elders at Pleasant Hill United Presbyterian Church) her community, and daughters' schools. She continued her church service in those churches she attended throughout her life. From housewife and mother, she entered the work force forging her way to a long and happy career. She began her career after being recognized for her potential; even without work experience in Steubenville. She moved to Pittsburgh and Cleveland for sales, customer service and office management, retiring out of Mansfield, OH, from Zellerbach. Preceding Kathy in death were her parents, her two brothers, Herman and Clyde Dunn, her aunts and uncles. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Kathy Burkey of Homestead, PA; Carole Auch (and son-in-law Ronald Auch) of Steubenville, OH; and Dianne LaRue of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, James Shumard of Homestead, PA; David Shumard of Pittsburgh, PA; Nadia Auch-Gandh (Ravi) of Lyons, CO; and Natalie Auch-Groman (Barry) of Steubenville, OH. Her great-grandchildren, (James) Evie Shumard, (Dave)Brianna and Tanner Shumard, (Nadia) Pia and Arian Gandh, (Natalie) Eva, Calla, Kent, Aurora, Cora and Leia Groman. Viewing at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2019. Service at 4:00 pm will be led by Rev. Jeff Proya, Bell Chapel United Methodist and with special eulogy and remarks by her cousin, Verne Sindlinger (cousin, Phyllis Kerns-Sindlinger) of Nashville, IN, per Kathy's request.

I'm so sorry to hear of Kathryn LaRue's passing. My mother passed away last May, Barbara Scott Bills and she spoke of Kathryn often. My mom would have been 91 also on April 9, 2019. She and Kathryn were good friends throughout the years. I think Kathryn was one of the '45 Girls! I felt so bad to read Kathryn obituary, I reached for the phone to let my mom know, and then realized she was probably chatting with her good friend as we speak. My heart goes out the family. I will also be saying prayers
