Obituary For Kathleen "Kay" Tarr Scott Henry

Kathleen “Kay” Tarr Scott Henry, 102, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away

September 30, 2022. She was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on April 29,

1920, a daughter of the late Francis Oliver and Jessie Waugh Tarr. Kay was a

lifelong member of Georges Run United Methodist Church and retired co-

owner of Standard Carbon Company, Wintersville, Ohio.

Her love of family and the joy Grandma Kay found in spending time

with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren were her first priority.

Over her 102 years she enjoyed gardening, painting, antique collecting, dabbling in the stock market, golfing, supporting church and charities, and traveling the

world. Kay would candidly tell you the secret to her longevity was

“chocolate, coffee, and butter”.

Preceding Kay in death were her two husbands William Reid Scott (married

1942-1982) and John Gilbert Henry (married 1989-2002); and sister Priscilla

Tarr Dorrance. Kay is survived by her son F. William Scott (Cheryl Evans) of Boerne,Texas; daughter Anita S. Evans of Gainesville, Florida; five grandchildren:

Jennifer Scott (Dave Jefferds), Rachel Scott, Leslie Evans (Matthew Almond), Jessica Evans (Andrew Morey) and Nathan Scott Evans; seven great grandchildren: Emma Morey, Arden Jefferds,

Miranda Jefferds, Kelsey Morey, Kathleen Almond, Olivia Almond and Fiona Morey.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road,

Wintersville, Ohio 43953 on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 3 – 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Georges Run United Methodist Church,

1436 State Route 151, Mingo Junction, Ohio 43938 on Friday, October 21,

at 10:30 a.m. (visitation ½ hour prior) with Rev. L. Mark George and Rev. Jimm Woods officiating. Interment at Fort Steuben Burial

Estates, Wintersville, Ohio 43953 immediately following services.

Remembrances in lieu of flowers may be made to Freedom Palliative

Hospice, 901 Airport Freeway, Suite 570, North Richland, Texas 76189;

Georges Run United Methodist Church; or the charity of the donor’s choice.

    A wonderful woman. So many memories of Wednesday evenings when dad would finish delivering eggs and always ended at a Bill and Kay's house for coffee and friendship.

I met Kay years ago and found her to be a kind, intelligent person. Then, when we were Founding UniBank in Jefferson County, Ohio, Kay was a Charter Shareholder. A lovely, lovely lady. RIP, H.
