Kathleen L. Degenkolb, 88, of Las Vegas, NV formerly of Mingo Junction, Ohio died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, NV. She was born May 4, 1922 in Follansbee, WV. Kathleen was an avid member of Harmony United Methodist Church, a member of Mingo Junction Womens Club and Desert Spring United Methodist Church in Las Vegas, NV. She was very active with the Harmony United Methodist Church soup sales and was known for making and giving out cans of cookies at Christmas. Kathleen never met a stranger and could talk to anyone and make friends. Preceding Kathleen in death were her husband Earl “Red” Degenkolb; father Earl VanAllen; mother Irma (Dean) McKim and brother Earl VanAllen. Surviving are her son William “Bill” (Mary Ann) Degenkolb of Las Vegas, NV; two grandsons Dr. Christopher (Dr. Kerri) Degenkolb of Westfield, IN and Bradford Degenkolb of Wintersville, OH and two cousins Earl Thomas “Tom” (Debbie) Dean of Glendale, WV and Cynthia J. Dean of Toledo, OH. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Road, Mingo Junction on Tuesday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. and at Harmony United Methodist Church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sam Davis officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Harmony United Methodist Church, 2119 Commercial Avenue, Mingo Junction, OH 43938.
