Karen L. Whitten, 70, of Wintersville, Ohio died on Sunday, July 2, 2023 in Pittsburgh. She was born in Steubenville on February 6, 1953. She was a member of Wintersville Methodist Church. She graduated from Wintersville High School (1971), College of Steubenville (1975), Masters in Education from University of Dayton and Masters Plus from Malone University. Miss Karen worked at the School of Bright Promise where she began Karen’s Kiddy Kare. In 1989, she was the first preschool special needs teacher hired in Jefferson County until her retirement in 2006.

Miss Karen was preceded in death by her parents Henry “Pete” and Helen Davidson Whitten. Her passions were her love for animals and working with children. Also preceding her in death were beloved felines Sparky, Nibby, Thumper, Abby, Tanner, Jasmine, Oreo and Meme.

Friends may call at Wintersville Methodist Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

Private burial at Fort Steuben.
