Judy May LeMasters Rice passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 22, 2021. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on November 23, 1938, and married her high school sweetheart, Ronald J. Rice, on December 1, 1958.
She was valedictorian of her 1956 class at Wintersville High School and attended Steubenville Business College and Jefferson Community College. After 34 years of service as Administrative Secretary at Trinity Medical Center West, she retired in 1997. Subsequently, she served as a mentor for the STARTS Program at the former Wayne Elementary School in Bloomingdale, OH, for many years. She was actively involved in all her husband’s and children’s numerous activities and was especially proud of her children’s educational endeavors and achievements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Gay (Sutton) and Ira Chron LeMasters; her brother, Donzel LeMasters; and her sisters, Dolores LeMasters, Alberta LeMasters, Delberta LeMasters Brown, and Sandra LeMasters Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Rice of Bloomingdale, OH; her beloved children, Cynthia Sue Sandy (Mark) of Naples, FL, Ronald Jerry Rice II (Pamela) of Tallahassee, FL, David Andrew Rice (April) of Slippery Rock, PA, and Robert Alan Rice (Kam) of Chantilly, VA; and her honorary son, adopted by the heart, Scott Pendleton (Donna) of Cadiz, OH. In addition, she is survived by her beloved granddaughters, Abigail Joy Rice and Diana Kaitlin Rice; and her beloved grandsons, Ronald Jerry Rice III, Tyler Matthew Rice, and Andrew Izaguirre.
Contributions in Judy’s memory may be made to Schiappa Branch Library, 4141 Mall Drive, Steubenville, OH 43952 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville, OH. In keeping with Judy’s wishes, there was no visitation and a private burial was held by the family at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH.
