Obituary For Judith Kay Burns

Judith K. Burns, 74, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 03, 2015 at Valley Hospice. She was born October 14, 1940 in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Chester E. and Arlene Geckler Harmon. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray W. “Bill” Burns, whom she married on October 31, 1959. Judith was a homemaker and held church membership at LaBelle View Church of Christ and belonged to its Truth Seekers Sunday School class; the church was a very important part of her life. She was a member of the Y.W.C.A. and a graduate of Steubenville High School. She enjoyed playing cards and baking items to give away to her friends, especially her pies and the trips to Amish Country.

She is survived by her children Rick (Beth) Burns of Steubenville and Cheryl (Bill) Wilson of Hopedale; grandson Rob (Jenni) Wilson of Bowerston and great granddaughter Addie; and Erika Ortman daughter of Rick and Beth Burns of Pittsburgh, PA.

Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. Minister Tom Arehart officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be directed to LaBelle View Church of Christ, 301 Ohio Street, Steubenville, OH 43952.

    Our sincere sympathy to Cheryl, Rick , and families. So surprised and sad to hear of your mom's passing. I knew and loved your mom my entire life. She was truly the definition of Christian.     Cheryl and Rick, when we moved to Steubenville in 1974 and met Judy, I knew she was one of the sweetest kindest people I had EVER met. She has been one of my favorite people. John and I shall miss her. We are sad for you ans us, but not for her.

    Rick and Cheryl, so sorry to hear about mom. She was a great lady and a hard worker at the church. Her life was a great testimony to her faith. Our hearts ache at this time but we know there will be a great reunion when we join our loved ones and there will be no more sorrow. We are all praying for you and your families.
