Obituary For Judith A. Custer

Judith A. “Judy” Custer, 62, of Bloomingdale, Ohio died Friday, October 5, 2007 at Palliative Care, Steubenville, OH. She was born May 17, 1945 in San Angelo, Texas, daughter of the late Warren and Doris Marie Johnson Linville. Preceded in death were her brother Jack Abercrombie; and grandson Martin Taylor. Judy taught Home Economics for the Indian Creek School District where she was a devoted teacher to her students and school district. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Steubenville, where she sang in the choir. Survived by her husband, Richard “Rick” Custer Sr.; children, Colleen (Paul) Hupp, Kim (Greg) Lavender, Paul Maguire, Crystal (Jeff) Coffield, Christina Maguire, Rick Custer Jr.; 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers Robert (Pat) Abercrombie and Dennis Linville. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 284 Lovers Lane, Steubenville, with Fr. J. Jeffrey Baker and Rev. Mary Carson officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be directed to Valley Hospice, 380 Summit Ave., Steubenville, OH 43952.

    As one of Christina's co-workers, I send my heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Custer's entire family and her friends. While it hurts so much to lose her and we don't understand her passing at such a young age, may you be comforted in the knowledge that her suffering is over and she rests in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.

    So sorry for your loss. Judy always kept her classroom very organized and neat. It made the custodians job easier. It was a pleasure working with her, she'll be greatly missed.
