Obituary For Joyce R. Jackson

Joyce R. Jackson, 95, of Wintersville, Ohio died Monday January 15, 2024 at Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina, Ohio. She was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on April 19,1928, the fifth child of Fred C. And Florence W. Robertson. Joyce graduated from Mingo High School, Otterbein College, and the University of Dayton. She spent the bulk of her professional life as a classroom teacher at Hills Elementary in Mingo with later posts as a Teacher Consultant for Indian Creek School District and an adjunct professor with Mount St. Joseph out of Cincinnati and lastly, working with many student teachers at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. She also dedicated many hours working on the National & Ohio Educators Association in several capacities. She also worked on the NCATE - National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Frederick M. Jackson, her parents, brothers Fred C., Reade W. And Eugene D. Robertson, sister Betty R. Lodge and granddaughter Victoria M. Jackson. She is survived by her children Deborah (James) Jackson Abrams, Diane Jackson Benner, Deidre (Timothy) Jackson Feldman and F. Mark (Glenna) Jackson as well as her seven grandchildren Amanda and Alex, Justin (Maranda) and C.J.(Caitlin), Zachary (Lia) and Jackson (Kami) and Ethan (Whitney). Joyce was also blessed with great-grandchildren Mallory and Morgan, Brooklyn and Jaxon, Zoe and Layla.

Friends will be welcomed at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Saturday, January 27 from 10:00 a.m. until services at 12:00 noon, the Reverend Vaughn Foster officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest with Fred at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio following the services.
