Obituary For Joseph E. "Joe" Howarth

Joseph E. “Joe” Howarth, 78, of Wintersville, Ohio died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Trinity West.  He was born January 3, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Martin and Mary O’Brien Howarth.  Joe served five years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh.  Joe worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and retired in 1993 from National Steel.  He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Cadiz Country Club, Steubenville Country Club and National Steel’s Management Club.  Surviving are his wife Jane L. Lunger Howarth; son Martin (Cynthia) Howarth; daughter  Patricia (Kenneth) Nice; six grandchildren Zachary, Jacob and Noah Howarth, Cody Jane, Chancellor and Michael Strane; two brothers Thomas and John “Jack” Howarth and three sisters Frances (Joseph) Quaquarucci, Theresa Kellerman and Mary Alice Rymniak.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated Saturday 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Msgr. Kurt Kemo as celebrant. Vigil service Friday 3:45 p.m.  Burial at Fort Steuben where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will perform military honors.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society or a charity of donor’s choice.

    To the family of Joe Howarth I send my deepest sympathy in just learning of his passing.I worked with Joe at Weirton Steel and attended management club meetings with him. I will miss him. May your memories of Joe be eternal and give you everlasting peace.

    I just check the on line Herald star, we are so sorry about the untimely death of your husband, father, and grandfather. We have known Joe for many years and have always enjoyed his company when golfing. May his Memory Be Eternal.
