John William Felmet, 90, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away peacefully, in the company of
his loving family, Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville.
John was born in Durant, Oklahoma on October 11, 1924 and was the only child of the late Rubye (Yeats) and John Felmet, Sr. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Patsy
Speakman Felmet. He was the father of four surviving children, Bryan (Kim) Felmet of Steubenville, Lynne (Frank) Talleda of Miami, Florida, J. David (Rose) Felmet of Dayton, Ohio and Grant Felmet of Cleveland, Ohio, and was the adoring grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
John was an Army veteran who served in World War II as a Military Policeman in Panama and other venues. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and was the Asst. Director of Metallurgy Quality Control for Wheeling Steel (later Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel). He was a huge fan of all things Ohio State and the Pittsburgh teams. An avid golfer, he was a member of the West End Gang at Cadiz Country Club and an expert at playing dominoes. John, a 60 plus year Mason, belonged to Pilgrim Lodge 691 and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville,
Friends may call at the Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari officiating. A Masonic Service will be presented at 11:45. Burial will be at Union Cemetery where military honors will be performed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to American Diabetes Association.
