John Smilanic 89 of Steubenville, Ohio died Monday, June 9, 2003 at Trinity West. He was born in Selo Backovica, Yugoslavia on January 6, 1914 a son of the late Sava and Eva Komlenac Smilanic. John was a barber and hair stylist at Today’s World in Steubenville. Since 1950, John was a devoted member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church and Petar Krstich Choir. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Surviving are his sister Anka of Croatia; a cousin Donald (Adelma) Salakovich of Follansbee, WV. Friends may call at Holy Resurrection Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. with Rev. Rade Merick officiating. Burial at Serbian Cemetery, Steubenville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Petar Krstich Choir, in care of the church. Arrangements by Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville
