John M. Shipley, 81, of Steubenville, Ohio died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Palliative Care. He was born November 28, 1924 in Steubenville a son of the late John T. and Owilla F. Ewing Shipley. John retired in 1991 from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. as a shipping clerk after 43 years of service. He was a member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church and a former member and elder at the former First U.P. Church. John was a 1942 graduate of Steubenville High School and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Preceding John in death were his daughter Charlene L. Beadling on November 17, 2003 and one sister Jane Sinovic. Surviving are his wife Helen G. Arthur Shipley; son John (Denise) Shipley of Fallon, NV; daughter Cynthia McKay of Steubenville; five grandchildren Jamie Beadling of Miami, FL, Troy Beadling of Stow, OH, Ryan McKay and Travis McKay both of Tempe, AZ, Sabrina (Randy) Hutchcraft of Hawaii; two great grandchildren Tierney and Khara Hutchcraft; two sisters Anna Mary Salimbene of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Betty (Zedia) DeLong of Surfside, SC. Private services will be held with Rev. Susan Haseltine officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Valley Hospice, Inc.
