John M. “Jack” Ryan, 62, a Christian and devoted follower of Christ was called home Saturday morning at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 20, 1944 in Steubenville, Ohio. Jack was a retired conductor from Conrail having worked out of Weirton, WV, Mingo Junction, Ohio and Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; Columbus Masonic Lodge 684; and Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jack was preceded in death by his father O.B. “Jack” Ryan. Surviving are his wife Marcy O’Connor Ryan; mother Alice Mountford Ryan of Wintersville; son Todd (Jennifer) Girga of Wintersville; daughters Nathalie K. (Tom) Pfleiderer of Powell, Ohio and Alissa M. (Don) Larson of Dublin, Ohio; sisters Ann (Jim) Wiley of Amsterdam, Ohio, Joyce Ryan Orlando of Wintersville and Mary Alice (Doug) Blackburn of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandsons John, Jacob, Devin, Jonathon and Donnie; eight nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-8 p.m. Funeral services noon Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Fr. Steven McKeown officiating. (Everyone please meet at church; no prior visitation) Burial at Fort Steuben. Courtesy service by Steubenville Masonic Lodge 45 F&AM 7 p.m. Monday Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at the cemetery.
