John Joseph Kirkpatrick, Sr., 82, of Wintersville, Ohio died Thursday, May 4, 2006 in the Trinity West ER. He was born June 23, 1923 in Salinesville, Ohio a son of the late Walter and Alice Madden Kirkpatrick. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; Weirton Moose Lodge 688; Steubenville Elks Lodge 231; 25 Year Club and Civilian Conservation Corps. John retired from Weirton Steel as a supervisor of civil engineers. A veteran of the Army Air Corps he was stationed in Okinawa during WWII. Preceding John in death were three brothers James, Walter and Elmer Kirkpatrick; three sisters Eileen Kirkpatrick, Ann Driscoll and Vickie Colson. Surviving are his wife Edna Campbell Kirkpatrick whom he married June 6, 1943; sons John J. Kirkpatrick of Houston, TX and Robert C. (Shirley) Kirkpatrick of Bloomingdale; five grandchildren Robert Kirkpatrick of Youngstown, OH, John Wayne Kirkpatrick of CA, Robert S. Kirkpatrick of Houston, Jessica Harvey Miksit of NJ, and James Harvey of New Manchester, WV; five great grandchildren and two sisters Vera Alice “Bunny” Wells of Steubenville and Ida K. Haynes of Toronto, OH. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass 9:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church with Msgr. Gerald E. Calovini officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben. Vigil services 3:45 p.m. Sunday Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at the cemetery chapel.
