  Dear Mary, I just found John's obituary and want to say how special John was to me. I thought of him as a great friend. Kept in sporadic tough and last saw him in 2016 when I made the trip to a sorority party in Slippery Rock and then stopped in Steubenville to see John. Soon after we moved to Charleston and I am sad that I am just finding out about John's passing. A beautiful person. Barbara Singer Kelly

  Dear Mary, Your brother was a great friend of mine, especially during the Chautauqua days. Our parents were also close and Chautauqua was where we all could get together and have fun.When I returned to Steubenville after being away many years, John and I had quite a few conversations on the phone and I will miss talking to him.Am hoping that when the pain has died down somewhat for you and your family, the happy memories will fill your mind and help make things easier for you all.My prayers for you all.   Mr. G. as we called him in the Toronto City Schools was one of the most reliable substitute teachers that we had. My children were students when he subbed & they both really liked him.  He was a very interesting person, who I am glad to have had the pleasure of meeting & working with.   Mary, Sorry to learn about John's passing. Many wonderful Chautauqua memories of John. Brother Kevin and John traveled to  Fort Bragg to visit our daughter and son-in-law who was in the 82nd.  John had a good time reminiscing about his days at Fort Bragg.   They also visited me at Penn State in the late 50's.John was a stand-up man.   Sincerest Sympathy to the family of John.   He was a good friend to my brother William H. (Billy) Kelley, who passed away in 1959.  Billy loved John and they were good friends.   I was in Steubenville about 15 years ago and dong some research on my family history and knocked on his door.   We chatted for over an hour and he took me back in the back yard, where he was doing some yard work.   When I told him that I was Billy Kelley's sister, he was most pleased.   Actually, we were somehow related to the Griesinger family from years ago.  Your are in my thoughts and prayers.   Blessings,   Ann Kelley Nolan of Woodbridge, Va, formerly of Steubenville, Ohio.

  I was so sad to hear about John.  I talked to him not to long ago and he sounded real good.  I think of you often Mary and I will always remember the great times we all had together at Chautauqua and Steubenville.  John always called me Virginia and I got a kick out of it.  When my brother Kevin was sick John helped him out a lot I will always appreciate that.  You and your family are in my prayers.

  Mr. G, as we called him, was not just a colleague when he subbed for Toronto City Schools, he was my friend. He was my and another teacher's lunch buddy and my husband and I enjoyed his company while eating out or attending parties. The students and staff liked him a lot. He will be missed.RIP

  Sorry to hear of John's passing.  I have many childhood memories of John and his family.  We were in same grade at Garfield Elementary. For several years on John's birthday his father, Judge Griesinger, would take our entire class to the roller skating rink in Follansbee WV for a party.  Also remember John's father would bring him up to the North End ball field, across street from my house, to play baseball.

  Deepest sympathies to John's family. I have many fond memories of working with John when he was a substitute teacher at Toronto City Schools. He was such a dedicated substitute teacher. It didn't matter what time I called he was always willing to come in. Rest In Peace John.
