John Joseph Latzy 88 of Mingo Junction, Ohio died Monday, October 11, 2004 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Mingo Junction on August 13, 1916 a son of the late George A. and Elizabeth Sabol Latzy. John was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Mingo Junction, American Legion Post 315, Mingo Junction and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Martha Stepanovich Latzy, who died May 6, 2001. Surviving is a son John “Jack” (Lois) Latzy of Westchester, Ohio, daughters Kristina Hubbell, of the residence, Beatrice (Gerald) English of Caledonia, New York and Elizabeth (Stephen) Claytor of Westchester, Ohio, brothers Robert and George Latzy, his aunt Sophia Sabol, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Avenue, Mingo Junction, Ohio on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be 10a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Fr. James Dunfee officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville. Vigil services 8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes School, Mingo Junction.
