John E. “Jack” Otto 80 of Wintersville, OH died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at his residence of natural causes. He was born in Glen Dale, WV on January 19, 1924 the son of the late Carl V. and Mabel Buzzard Otto. Preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Yeater Otto on August 11, 1982. Two brothers, Fred and Dan Otto and a sister, Faye Smith. Jack was a member of the Swinging Seniors Golf Club at Spring Hills Golf Course where he shot his age at 77. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co. as a furnace operator and served during WWII in the US Army in the European Theatre. He was a Golden Glove Champion Boxer in middle weight class. Survived by two sons, John K (Clarice) Otto of Bloomingdale, OH and Lew (Peg) Otto of Smithfield, OH. Six grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Niko, Luca, Abbey and Jackson Otto. One sister, Faith Powell of Moundsville, WV. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, OH on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Jim Ogden to officiate. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH where Ohio Valley Veteran’s Memorial Squad will conduct services.
