Obituary For Joann R. Vogt

Joann Rose “Jo” Vogt, 72, of Steubenville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2005. She was born in Weirton, West Virginia on September 5, 1932 the daughter of the late Roy M. Johnson and the late Mildred Pike Johnson Bentley. Jo was a member of Bell Chapel U.M. Church where her activities included serving as former Youth Group leader, conducting funeral dinners, teaching Bible School, Good Samaritan food distribution, Womens Club and the choir. She was also an avid bowler. Jo leaves behind a legacy of loving everyone, believing in each person, putting others’ needs before her own, but most of all - touching hundreds of lives. Surviving are her husband Frederick Albert Vogt; one son Daniel Vogt of Lombard, Illinois; three daughters Karen (David) Taylor and Sonja (John) Rhine both of Toronto, and Tracie (Emil) Morelli of Weirton; six grandsons Jeff and Brock Taylor, Jason and Jerrod Rhine, Danny and Sean Vogt; two step grandsons Aaron and Eric Morelli; and special nieces Carolyn Owen, Arden Seuberling, and Nannette Smith. She also leaves behind many close friends who have been special to her for many years. Because of her love of the Lord, a card ministry “Cards and Prayers Across America (CAPAA) was formed in her honor. Her love of helping the youth in our area prompted her to establish the Joann Rose Vogt Foundation for Underprivileged Youth. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. On Saturday, friends may call at Bell Chapel from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. with Revs. Jeff Proya and Jason Elliott officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions may be made to either Joann Rose Vogt Foundation or Four Seasons Ministries both in care of the church. Joann’s wish is that God’s Love will be passed on from those who know her to the others who need love.
