JoAnn M. Creegan, 65 of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, PA. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on June 18, 1937 a daughter of the late Frank P. and Carmella M. “Millie” Dell’Omo Quattrone. JoAnn was co-founder and vice-president of Creegan Company in Steubenville. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its C.W.C. She also served on Steubenville Convention and Visitors Bureau and Main Street 1993-2000, Advisory Board and Fine Arts Committee at Franciscan University of Steubenville 1996 to present, St. Anthony Church Council 1990-1993, Chairperson of the Catholic Bishop’s Ball 1994, Steubenville Christmas Parade Grand Marshall 1997, Mayor’s Committee for city of Steubenville Bi-Centennial 1995-1997. She was the hands and voice for “Crow and other Creegan puppet productions 1961-1999, worked for Catholic Charities with Vietnam Homeless, sponsoring a refugee girl in 1975 and 1976. She supplied and delivered Toys for Tots thru Catholic Charities every Christmas Eve 1985-1990. She did character voice-overs for commercials and Creegan talking anima tractions, and was the Chief puppeteer in traveling puppet stage shows for 25 years 1964-1989. Even though recovering from illness JoAnn developed a campaign to collect more than 3000 pounds of cloths and blankets for earthquake victims in Guajahira, India. Throughout her career JoAnn visited hospitals, children’s homes and did free puppet shows for disadvantaged children and did full stage shows every Christmas for special children. Surviving are her husband Dr. George R. Creegan; one son Sean (Jean) Creegan of Steubenville; three daughters Mary Elaine (Thomas) Feist of Bloomingdale, Ohio, Kathleen (Mark) Postlewait and Joan (Chuck) Benzo both of Canton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and one brother John M. (Mary Lynn) Quattrone of Cincinnati, Ohio, “Aunt” Ruth Ford of Steubenville. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 7-9 and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Church with Rev. Timothy Shannon and Rev. Edmondo Stabene as co-celebrants. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville. Vigil services 3:45 p.m. Friday.
