Obituary For Joan A. "JoAnne" Cook

Joan A. “JoAnne” Cook, age 75, a lifelong resident of Steubenville, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at Valley Hospice North, after a lengthy illness where she was surrounded by her loving family at her side. She was born July 16, 1937 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry Evans and Mary Aronholt Evans Forbes.  JoAnne was an active member of Wintersville United Methodist Church and the American Legion Argonne Post #33 Women’s Auxiliary.  She was a Steubenville High School Class of 1956 graduate, but most important to her was being a homemaker and raising her family whom she adored. She is survived by her husband, James H. Cook, whom she married on June 13, 1957 and will be sadly missed by her children; son, Gregory Cook of Arizona; daughters, Cheryl (Andrew) Bryan of Wintersville, Karen (Owen) Mort of Steubenville, and Mary Brown of Wintersville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Keagler of Wintersville and Margaret “Peggy” Dalbenzio of Steubenville.Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Wednesday from 5 ¬– 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m. at Wintersville United Methodist Church, 702 Main Street, Wintersville with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen conducting services and entombment will follow in Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.

    My Dear girl-friend from Steubenville High School, (1956.) OH The fun we had and I still remember the pajama parties we had at your place on Third St. Also the wonderful DiCarlo's Pizza and Steve's Fish & Chips. That was delivered to us which was rare back then. Joanne, I will never forget you. My thoughts and Prayers go out to all of your family. I am so sorry I never had the chance to meet all of them.     Donna,I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. I remember Joan from the roller rink in Weirton.She was always moving fast and laughing . She will be in our prayers.

    Cheryl, I just want you to know that I really liked your Mom. We saw each other a great deal at the American Legion. We did a lot of laughing together and had a lot of fun. I am so sorry for your loss. I know that you will miss her. Please extend my sympathy to your family.
