Jean M. Sutherland, 89, of Wintersville, Ohio died Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Trinity West. For the past three years, Jean has been a resident of Carriage House in Steubenville. She was born May 14, 1917 in Atlanta, Georgia, a daughter of the late Thomas and Edna Vaughn Menzies. Jean was a member of Wintersville U.M. Church; Hope Circle and Steubenville Y.W.C.A. She served as past president of Smithfield Womens Club and both Smithfield & Wintersville Garden Clubs. Preceding Jean in death were her husband Lewis Q. Sutherland; two brothers C.B. Johnson & W.V. Johnson; and one sister Margaret Menzies. Surviving are her son Lewis W. “Bill” (Cindy) Sutherland of Cadiz, Ohio; daughter Susan J. Sutherland of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren Brian Dean (Melissa) Sutherland, Adam Scott (Amy) Sutherland, Amie Ruth Sutherland & Matt (Sonya) Kibble; and four great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 1-5 p.m.; where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating.
