James R. “Mud Duck”Masters 73 of Mingo Junction, OH died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Trinity West, Steubenville. He was born in Steubenville on April 28, 1930 a son of the late Harry E. Masters and the late Jean Odell Masters Burgham. He was Methodist by faith. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, after 30 years of service as a locomotive machinist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of GKL Wildlife Association and the VFW in Steubenville. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ann Masters Kolling Valuska. He is survived by his wife Ruth Lodge Masters, whom he married on 2-20-1958, daughters Roberta Lynn Masters (Scott) Cullen of Alexandria, VA, Donna Eugenia Masters of Mingo Junction, son James R. “JR” “Little Bob” Masters II of Mingo Junction, brothers Harry Edward “Bud” Masters, Donald E. Masters, both of Steubenville and George William “Bill” Masters of Harperwoods, MI, granddaughters Emma and Lindsay Cullen, nieces Debby (David) Kriegel, Dale Lynn (Bob) Grimm, Twyla Jean “TJ” (Dave) Wszeborowski, Mary Margaret Kolling, Anna Marie Valuska (Jim) Wood, Cindy J. (Richard) Williamson, nephews Joseph Eddie Werner, Henry (Valerie) Werner, William Michael Valuska, cousin Louella Odell. Friends may call at Hoff-Shorac Funeral Home, 235 Clifton Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Friday 7-9 P.M. (ONLY), where funeral services wil be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sam Retzer officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made Kolmont Church.
