James P. “Jim” VanDyne, 76, of Steubenville, Ohio died Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Laurels of Steubenville. He was born March 29, 1941 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late James S. and Dorothy E. Allen VanDyne. He retired from Wheeling – Pittsburgh Steel as a crane operator. Surviving are his wife, whom he married September 17, 1990, Mary Joy Donofrio VanDyne; daughter Karen (William) LaGard of Oakdale, PA; step son James Flanigan of Florida; granddaughter Eva LaGard; step grandchildren Brenan LaGard, Lainey Resetar, Sara Flanigan and Emily Flanigan; father-in-law Ralph Donofrio of Toronto, OH; mother-in-law Mary Joy (Arden) VanNorman of Imperial, PA; 1st wife Rita Wigal; close friend Joe Eddy and several step great granchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Sunday 4 – 8 p.m. where a service will be held 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Sam Davis officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to a special friend Rosie. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Harmony United Methodist Church, 2119 Commercial Street, Mingo Junction, OH 43938.
