I'm one of the people that Jimmy helped. When I first got out of treatment and met Jimmy, he found out that he'd worked at the mill with my Dad, he called my Dad "Socha" and Dad called Jimmy "Cookie". After that Jimmy took me under his wing and got me to many meetings. Jimmy took more people to treatment and to meetings then any one I ever knew in the program. An era has indeed passed with him. He will be missed at the Tuesday Night Follansbee NA meeting.

Dear Betty and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. --"There are many times when whatever the position of our bodies, our soul is on its knees.---"Jimmys soul was ALWAYS on its knees when it came to helping others through the struggles of recovering from addictions. His words of wisdom and love for others will remain with me (and countless others) for many, many years to come. Being my 'Grand- Sponsor', he had given me the most precious gift--- a gift that I'd wanted more than anything....He not only showed me how to stay sober, he also showed me what I had to do to become humble, so that I could "Enjoy-the-journey" through life..He kneeled before God in the chapple at the hospital and prayed with me....His soul was FOREVER on its knees. Love and blessings always, Mary Paice

I was sorry to hear Uncle Cookie had been sick and to hear of his passing. It is times like these when the distance is just too great. Wish I could be there to put my arms around your necks and let you know how much we love and care for you during this time. You will all be in my prayers that the Lord will comfort you and be by your side. What a legacy he has left just from what we have read right here! Love you!

I will always be grateful to Jimmy C. When I came into recovery I was full of resentments towards my soon to be ex, my mother and especially myself. Jimmy took me aside and taught me as I now call it "The Jimmy Cook Pray." He said "when you have a resentment for anyone say a pray each night for 30 days," "ask your higher power to give them everything you would like out of recovery." It sounded like such a tall order for me at the time, however I took that suggestion and still do after 13 years. I also was taught by Jimmy to share what was freely given to me. I have shared this infamous "Jimmy Cook Pray" with many in my support group as well as numerous clients. Tonight I say a pray in gratitude for the pleasure of knowing Jimmy and our many recovery talks. My sympathy goes out to all in his family. He is truly an angel.
