James J. Stephen 82 of Wintersville, OH died Monday, January 26, 2004 at Oak Hill Manor, Louisville, OH. He was born in Calais, OH on October 27, 1921 a son of the late Eggar and Mary Miller Stephen. He was a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church, Wintersville, Pilgrim Lodge #691 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville. He was also a US Navy veteran of WWII. James was retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Corp., Houston, TX, where he was a remote station operator. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary P. Billman Stephen on July 25, 2003, brothers B.K. and Donald Stephen, sisters Hazel Christman and Lucille Wehr, step mother Nora Stephen. He is survived by a son Ronald J. (Sharon) Stephen of Paris, OH, daughters Susan J (Larry) Garlinger of St. Clairsville, OH and Barbara A. (Steven) Wilcher of Palm Harbor, FL, sister Eleanor (Herbert) Christman of Summerfield, OH, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersvillle, OH on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:30p.m. with Rev. David Sperry officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH. Masonic services 6:30p.m. Thursday.
