James J. McGinnis, 79, of Wintersville, OH, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home. He was born March 21, 1932 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late Edward & Helen Hinckley McGinnis. James retired from National Steel in 1980 and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a member of Wintersville VFW, American Legion Post #0557, Mens Hibernians Club, Weirton Seniors Club. He loved flea markets and football. James served in the Korean War from 1949 – 1953. Preceding James in death were four brothers John, Hugh, Fred and Bob McGinnis and five sisters Marge Caples, Helen Slocum, Kay Phillips, Patty Marker and Gladys Kuczykowski. Surviving are his wife June Noble McGinnis whom he married on July 13, 1954; two sons James McGinnis, Jr. of Seattle, WA and Shawn M. (Maggie) McGinnis of Wintersville, OH; three daughters Sharon (Bill) Stevenson of Wintersville, OH, Cindy (Dennis) Mason of West Bloomfield, MI and Linda (John) McGlone of Wintersville, OH; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sister Jane Robinson of Florida and brother Ed “Shag” McGinnis of California. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home Wintersville Wednesday 6 – 8 p.m. Vigil service Wednesday 7:45 p.m. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

I just found out James is with the Lord. I'm sorry for the families loss and we will all miss our friend. Joe Hinckley was my Dad. James and I played together when we were kids and had a ball.
