James A. “Niffy” Caniff, Jr., 69, of Bloomingdale, Ohio died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Life Line Hospital.  He was born July 18, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late James A. and Helen E. Kinkaid Caniff, Sr.  James was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and Red Oaks Country Club.  He was past president of Wintersville Little League and past treasurer of Wintersville High School Booster Club.  James retired in 1999 after 35 years of service from Weirton Steel general offices accounting department.  James was preceded in death by his son James A. “Bee” Caniff, III; sister Shirley Sacripanti and brother William Caniff.  Surviving are his wife Dorothy J. Donnelly Caniff whom he married on September 29, 1962; son Jeff (Sheila) Caniff of Bloomingdale, OH; daughter-in-law Amy Aracich Caniff of Wellsburg, WV; three grandchildren J.J. and Justin Caniff both of Bloomingdale, OH and Josh Caniff of Wellsburg, WV; sister Joann (Joe) Mahlie of Wintersville, OH and many nieces and nephews.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Tuesday 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. and on Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral liturgy with mass at 10 a.m. with Msgr.
