James A. “Jim” Roach, 75, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Cleveland Clinic. He was born February 20, 1940 in Steubenville a son of the late John H. and D. Lucille Bilderback Roach.
A 1959 graduate of Steubenville High School, he remained a lifelong supporter of the school. Jim worked as a golf pro for many years at Pleasant Valley Country Club and later owned Red Oaks Country Club. He also worked for Boich Mining Company and Valley Crest at Williams Country Club, Weirton, W.Va.
Jim is survived by his wife Virginia A. “Ginger” Newman Roach, whom he he wed on October 22, 1966; and loving family, including brother John Jeffrey Roach; two sisters, Margaret (Dick) Baker and Betty (Harry) Caldwell; brother-in-law, Dick (Jeanne) Newman; and many special nieces and nephews who knew him best as “Uncle Rats”.
At Mr. Roach’s request, there will be no visitation.
Donations may be made in his memory to Teramana Cancer Center in Steubenville.
Private arrangements are being handled by Shorac Funeral Home.
