James A. “Jack” Perry, 83, of Wintersville, Ohio died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Valley Hospice North. He was born December 30, 1925 in Steubenville a son of the late Albert B. & Marie Chamberlain Perry. He was retired from the quality control lab at Weirton Steel and served in the Navy during WWII on a LST 748. Jack was a member of Wintersville U.M. Church; U.M. Men; Ohio Amphibs; American Legion Post 557; and U.S. LST Association. Preceding Jack in death was his brother William L. Perry. Surviving are his wife Patricia Broce Perry; four children Susan Black of Peoria, AZ, Beverly (Bruce) Brenda of Bloomingdale, Cathy (Robert) First of Marietta, & James A. (Kerrey) Perry II of Steubenville; brother Albert “Lee” (Margaret) Perry of Wintersville; eight grandchildren Julie, Jeremy James, Emily, Betsy, Matthew, Andrew, Katelyn & Logan; and four great grandchildren Conner James, Chloe Annelise, Joseph Holden & James Wyatt. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Memorials may be directed to Valley Hospice, Inc. 380 Summit Ave., Steubenville, Ohio 43952. Military services will be conducted at the cemetery.
