Obituary For James A. Purviance

James A. Purviance, 77, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Trinity Medical Center West surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 11, 1948 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late Glenn & Alice Stahl Purviance. James was an Insurance agent for Western & Southern Life Insurance Company.

James was an avid golfer and skilled woodworker splitting most of his time between the golf course and craft shows. Most of all, James was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren eating frequent bowls of ice cream.

James is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Michele Hendricks Purviance; children Matthew (Kara) Purviance & Amber (Travis) Weaver and eight grandchildren Savanna, Ashlyn, Eli, Kaylee, Landon, Brantley, Ali & Scarlet. He is preceded in death by his infant brother William Glenn.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm with additional visitation on Friday from 10:30 am to the time of services at 12 pm with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
