Jack L. “Pappy Flu” Fluharty, Sr., 68, of Wintersville, Ohio died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Wintersville on September 29, 1937 the son of the late Lee and Sylvia Hibbs Fluharty. Jack was a retired turn foreman at Timet in Toronto, Ohio and served in the US Army. He was a coach for Tri-State Trackers; an Indian Creek High School Booster; and an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Preceding Jack in death were his sister Wanda Maxine Fluharty. Surviving are his wife Georgia Congrove Fluharty; son Jack L. (Michelle) Fluharty, Jr. of Steubenville; three daughters Christine (Augie) Weaver of Richmond, Ohio, Donna Taylor and Lisa (Chuck) Karamanolis both of Wintersville; two sisters Madeline Sperry of Knoxville, Ohio and Evelyn (Spiro) Maragos of Wintersville; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. David Sperry officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Ohio Valley Veterans will conduct services at the cemetery chapel. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Foundation or Epilepsy Foundation.
