Obituary For Ira E. "Gene" Vandine

Ira E. “Gene” Vandine, 84, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Trinity West.  He was born August 22, 1927 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late J. Ross and Bertha Shue Vandine.  Gene served in the US Navy and retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  Gene was preceded in death by his brother Rev. Ross Vandine and two sisters Floretta M. Vandine and Audrey Moran.  Surviving are his wife Virginia N. Robertson Vandine whom he married May 2, 1949; son Rob (Mary) Vandine of Weirton, WV; daughter Melinda (Jim) Siverd of Madison, AL and brother Frederick Vandine.  He was blessed with five grandchildren Alicia (Todd) Pucky, Michael Siverd, Rob (Jenny) Vandine, Michelle (John) Pope and Alison Vandine and three great grandchildren Alayna Pucky, Andrew Pucky and Katie Pope.   Friends may call at Dunlope - Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville Wednesday 4–8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Steven McKeown officiating (everyone please meet at church). Entombment at Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 415 Adams Street, Steubenville, OH 43952.
