Hugh H. “Pete“ Johnston 91 of Steubenville, Ohio died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Trinity West Emergency Room. He was born in Alma, WV on February 23, 1913 the son of the late Robert and Ada Baker Johnston. Preceded in death by his wife, Wilma M. Campbell Johnston (1990); son Ronald R. Johnston (March 30, 1999); son-in-law, Louis Wrkich (September 16, 2003); two brothers and a sister. Pete retired from the open hearth at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of First Christian Church in Steubenville. Surviving are his daughter Barbara Wrkich of Steubenville; three grandchildren, Bonnie (Jack) Giusto of Steubenville, Gregory (Penny) Wrkich and Lisa (Kenny) Wells of Wintersville; six great grandchildren, Ryan Giusto, Natalie Giusto, Staci Copeland, Alyssa Wrkich, Kelly Wells and Kera Wells; two great great grandchildren Jonathan Giusto and Abby Copeland; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Doug Shoaff officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church..
