Hubert C. “Woody” Woodland, 80, of Wintersville,Ohio, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Lancia Villa Vista, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born February, 21, 1937 in Bethesda, Ohio, the son of the late John and Rosella P. Wells Woodland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons Charles Clinton and Hubert “Boo” Woodland; four brothers Charles, Jessie, Paul and John Woodland and two sisters Easter Marker and Priscilla Shilling.
Woody made a career of being a farmer for his whole life. He enjoyed selling his produce locally and at times giving his produce to the needy at no cost. He also enjoyed woodworking, roofing and crafting things with his hands. He was an active member of Wintersville Baptist Temple.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married on November 18, 1957 and was celebrating 60 years of marriage with, Carol L. Hightland Woodland; his children Rosella “Rose” (Frank) King of Olympia, WA, Georgia Woodland and Raymond (Cora Lee) Woodland both of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a brother Jerry (Jayne) Woodland of Lancaster, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Additional calling Saturday from noon until the time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Wintersville Baptist Temple with Pastor Troy Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery. So very sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of taking care of Woody and Carol for a long time through home health.He was so much like my own Dad their birthdays were 1 day apart .I looked forward to my home visits with them it never seemed like work.I will miss his hugs and kisses every time I was there.
