Obituary For Howard M. Haines

Howard M. “Bud” Haines, 85, of Darien, GA, formerly of Wintersville, OH died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Magnolia Manor, Brunswick, GA. He was born August 3, 1922 in Boswell, PA a son of the late William H. and Mary R. Penner Haines. He retired from Weirton Steel Co. as a galvanizing line operator. Bud was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church; Serbian National Federation; American Legion Argonne Post 33; Pilgrim Lodge 691 F & AM and a Shriner. He served in the Army during WWII and the Navy Reserves during the Korean War. Preceding Bud in death were his wife Lillian Merrick Malbasa Haines on December 17, 2003; and several brothers. Surviving are his stepson Joseph (Nita) Malbasa of Darien; two granddaughters Danielle (Cameron) Rose & Brywn (Ben) Philips; great granddaughter Lilah Philips; and sister Shirley Makay. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Very Rev. Rade Merick officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Holy Resurrection Serbian Church.

    We are so sorry to hear of Bud's death but we know he is with Lil. He missed her some much. We where neigbors for 36 years and will miss them both.

    I'm Vera Kaspers daughter. I was so sad to hear of Uncle Buddys passing. He was a good man and I always liked him. I still remember taking care of Hondo so he and your mother could go on vacation. Take care & God Bless.
