Howard E. Murphy 81 of Weirton, WV, formerly of Steubenville died Friday, September 26, 2003 at Brightwood Center, Follansbee, WV. He was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on Septemebr 7, 1922 a son of the late Daniel and Carrie Beall Murphy. Howard was retired from Weirton Steel Co. 54” Mill and was a member of First U.M. Church in Mingo; American Legion Argonne Post 33; Weirton V.F.W. and 25 Year Club. Howard proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Warnock Murphy and one brother Donald Murphy. Surviving are his daughter Cheryl (Frank Jr.) VanKirk of Pataskala, Ohio; son Robert (Janice) Murphy of Palm Harbor, FL; brother Gene Murphy of Largo, FL; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; companion Mary Clements of Weirton and her family Rosie Sanders of Follansbee and Marlene Robertson of Weirton. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Sunday 7-9 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Tom Thomas officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben where Post 33 will conduct military services.
