Herman V. Dunn, 86, of Wintersville, Ohio died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Calcutta Health Care Center. He was born October 7, 1923 in Carnegie, PA a son of the late Clyde P. & Kathryn Wickham Dunn, Sr. He was retired from Steubenville Carpenters Local 187 and a member of Wintersville American Legion Post 557; Steubenville V.F.W. Post 87; 442nd Voyageur 40&8; and D.A.V. Herman was an Army veteran, entering in 1943, and was assigned to the 78th Infantry Division, serving in Europe from 1944 until February 1946. He saw action in England, Belgium, Remagan Bridge and at the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by one brother Clyde P. Dunn, Jr.Herman is survived by his daughters Patricia R. Grimm of East Liverpool, Laura E. Prasun of Yuba City, CA & Barbara L. Hubbard of Cocoa Beach, FL; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and sister Kathryn LaRue of Jacksonville, FLFriends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Westling officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Wintersville Legion Post 557 will conduct services at cemetery chapel.

My Christmas card was returned, and that was the first I heard of Herman's passing. Enjoyed the cards that we sent back and forth,he always remembered my birthday.I am sure he was welcomed by many, especially my Mom, Eileen. Pat and I send our thoughts and have lots of great memories.
