Obituary For Helena Marie "Bunny" Diekmann Hays

Helena Marie “Bunny” Diekmann Hays, 83 of Peachtree City, GA passed away on May 22, 2023.

She was born on September 5, 1939 in Steubenville, OH, the daughter of Marie Wukelic Diekmann and Pvt Robert Diekmann.

Bunny graduated from Wintersville High School class of 1957. She married her high school sweetheart Jim Hays.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Jim Hays.

She leaves behind her 3 children Jim Hays (Kim Milosevich Hays) of Altamonte Springs, FL, Elizabeth Hays Spanovich (Nick Spanovich) of Peoria, AZ and Patrick Hays of AZ, her grandchildren Nicole Spanovich Mankovich (Kyran Owen Mankovich) of Valencia, CA, Tyler Hays of Columbus, OH and Sydney Hays DelPalazzo (Kenneth DelPalazzo) of Great Lakes, IL and her great grandchildren Caitlin Mankovich, Kayley Mankovich and KJ DelPalazzo.

Bunny spent her career years at Sears, Bank One, Sky Bank and retired from Huntington Bank, all there in Ohio. She was a longtime member and supporter of the Wintersville Stadium Committee and the Wintersville Athletic Booster Club. She had a passion for horses and a love for all animals. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her friends and spending time with her family.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm services. Burial will immediately follow at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a local Humane Society.

    Bunny and I worked together in the credit office at Sears while I was attending the College of Steubenville. She was always pleasant and helpful, and made the job fun! Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your dear mother. May the memories you shared bring comfort in the days ahead.
