Helena M. “Sissy” Knutsen, 91, of Steubenville died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Bolger Country Club Manor. She was born in Steubenville on November 11, 1922 a daughter of the late C. Jerome and Helen F. Loftus Mettenberger. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church its Catholic Women’s Club and St. Francis Society. Sissy was retired from Ohio Bell where she worked in the construction department. She also was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Howard L. Knutsen; son Marvin Knutsen; brother Jerome E. Mettenberger and sister Mary E. Jones. She is survived by her sons Howard (Judy) Knutsen of Bay Village, OH and Thomas (Donna) Knutsen of Weirton, WV; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and dearest friend John Welsh of Steubenville. Friends may call at St. Peters Catholic Church, Steubenville on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 11a.m. until time of funeral liturgy with mass at 11:30a.m. with Fr. Timothy Huffman as celebrant. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
