Helen Krnich, 93, of Wintersville, Ohio died Friday, February 6, 2015 at Carriage House. She was born November 2, 1921 in Steubenville a daughter of the late Peter & Mary Statsik Shekey. She was a registered nurse at the former Ohio Valley Hospital. Helen was a 1939 graduate of Steubenville High School and University of Oregon Nursing School, where she still was a member of the Science & Health Alumni in addition to being a lifetime member of Ohio State Nurses Assn. Her other memberships include Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, Prime Time Senior Center, US Nurses Cadet Corps and Lunch Bunch, Wintersville Civic Service Club and Wintersville Womans Club. Preceding Helen in death were her husband Nick Krnich; son Mark M. Krnich; daughter Mary Alexis Krnich; brother Walter (late Louise) Shekey and sister-in-law Sophia Carevich.

Helen is survived by her sister-in-law Olga Krnich.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Tuesday from 10a.m. until the time of services at noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gregory Thompson officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Helen wanted to thank the nurses and aides at Carriage House for their excellent care and compassion.
