Obituary For Helen J. Boyd

Helen J. Boyd, 88, of Wintersville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 22,1921 in Georges Run, Ohio, a daughter of Earl W. & Alma Balach Smith. She was an active leader in her Church, and Community. She was always involved in the activities of her children, Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Little League, Dancing School and Wintersville Good Neighbors Assoc. She was a Member of the Wintersville U.M. Church, Esther Naomi Circle, Friendship Club, American Red Cross, Wintersville Womans League, Gadabouts, Mingo Senior Citizens, Girl Scout Troop 449, and Cub Scout Den #5 Mother. She had been employed as a cashier of the M&M Hardware. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E Boyd, and brother, Lawrence W. Smith. Helen is survived by her children, Jerry E.(Linda) Boyd) of Wintersville and Carla (Chuck) Carte of Bluffton, SC: grandchildren Michelle "Missy" ( William) Powell & Jerry (Kathy) Boyd: and six great-grandchilden; Rachel, Amber, B.J., Nicholas Powell and Kimberly and Brandon Boyd. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Tuesday 7-9 p.m ..and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Thursday, friends may call at the Wintersville U.M. Churchfrom 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.Offer condolences at www.shorac.com

    Carla and Jerry and family, A friend of mine from Wintersville emailed me that your mom had died. As the tears are running down my face, I wanted to extend my deepest sympathy.     To the Boyd family. I worked with Helen in 1973 at M&M Hardware. I would say hello every visit I made after that. She was a upbeat happy person and a joy to be around. She will be missed.
