Helen E. Pavich, 85, of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Trinity West ER. She was born December 27, 1920 in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Rade and Milka Tepovich Malbasa. Helen was a retired Ohio Bell telephone operator and also a retired switchboard operator at the former St. John Medical Center. She was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Sveta Petka Kolo and AARP. Helen served as a WAC during WWII. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanko “Stan” Pavich on December 11, 1991; and three brothers Milan “Sue”, Eli “Flip” and Ben Malbasa. Surviving are her sister Darinka “Dolly” Visnic with whom she resided; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Thursday 3-6 p.m. where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday with Very Rev. Rade Merick officiating. Burial at Serbian Cemetery. Pomen 3 p.m. Thursday Memorials may be directed to Holy Resurrection Church Cemetery Fund.
