Obituary For Helen A. Saccoccia

"My flesh and my heart faileth but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever"                                                                                                                                            Psalm 72:26Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother took her place as one of God's angels on Sunday, March 3, 2013, surrounded by her family.Helen was born in Ambridge, PA on November 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Antonio & Bibbiana Prosperi Iachini. She was a 1945 graduate of Steubenville High School and retired employee of the Fashion Hosiery and later the Fashion Bug.Helen lived a full life and accepted death knowing that God was holding her hand as she passed over. Helen is survived by her husband Rinaldo who she was devoted to for 64 years. They were married on September 22, 1948 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. They gave life to four children, three sons, Reno (Patty) and Raymond both of Steubenville, and Richard (Barbara) of NJ and a daughter, Marianne (Ken)  Mannie of Michigan.Mom was supportive and active in all her children's lives.  Grandma Helen was adored by and blessed with 9 grandchildren and 8 great grand children. She is also survived by a sister, Elvira (Mike) Mihalik of Toronto, OH, one brother Valentino (Ann) Iachini of Steubenville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Mary Iachini Holland, and two brother in laws, Robert Holland and Michael Mihalik.   Helen was a Roman Catholic by faith and a devoted parishioner to St. Anthony Church. She was an Officer in the Catholic Women's Club, served on  Parish Council, was a  Eucharistic Minister, served on the Annunciation Deanery, and volunteered at the Holy Name Cathedral Soup Kitchen, as well as a being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Troop 10. Upon closing of St. Anthony she then practiced her faith at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was also active in the Steubenville Little League for 15 years.At Helen’s request, family and friends will be received at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral liturgy with mass in her honor  at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. Gerald E. Calovini, V.F. officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.The Saccoccia Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Trinity Health System 2nd floor Telemetry  Unit, for the care and compassion they showed to our angel.Due to the Lenten season No Flowers will be accepted at the church therefore,  the Saccoccia  Family  strongly requests  donations be made to Trinity Health System Foundation, % Cardiac Care Unit, 380 Summit Avenue, Steubenville, OH 43952  or  Lupus Foundation of America, 2000 L Street  NW, Suite 410, Washington, DC 20036.

    I consider it a blessing that I was able to take the Blessed Sacrament to Helen twice before her passing. She was joyful to the end knowing that she was surrounded by a loving family and she was soon to be greeted by her Heavenly Father. May she rest in peace. Gloria
