Hazel R. Vein 74 of Steubenville, Ohio died Sunday, April 18, 2004 in the emergency room at Trinity West. She was born in Steubenville on February 18, 1930 a daughter of the late David and Clinnie Bell Peoples Phillipson. Hazel was employed by Steubenville City Schools as a secretary to the Athletic Director and was the ticket manager. An avid Big Red supporter, Hazel was a member of the Boosters, past president of Football Mothers and fan of all sporting events. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Surviving are her husband Joseph G. Vein; son Chuck (Suzanne) Vein of Steubenville; granddaughter Carla Vein of Columbus, Ohio; grandsons Jason and Matt Vein of Steubenville; and one brother John (Cecilia) Phillipson of Toronto, Ohio. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Monday 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to SHS Scholarship Fund or SHS Foundation.
