Harold J. McClain, 88, of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born September 15, 1923 in Steubenville a son of the late Jay G. & Matilda A. Rawlins McClain. He was a retired school photographer for Carl Mansfield Studio. Harold was an Army veteran of WWII and ham radio operator. Harold was preceded in death by three sisters Gladys Barnes, Alice Heckman and Anna Margaret Kidder and one brother William McClain. Surviving are his wife of 65 years Irene Long McClain; and eight nieces Carolyn (Bruce) Donaldson of Malibu, CA, Jane (Rick) Mort of San Diego, CA, Patricia (Greg) Varoga Ehalt of Murrysville, PA, Mary Kay (Sam) Conner of Aliquippa, PA, Barbara (Ralph) Carapellotti of Berea, OH, Linda Bright of Steubenville, OH, Janice (Ronald) Zumer of Suwanee, GA and Carol (Jon) Laska of Irwin, PA and nephew Richard (Barbara) Barnes of Pittsburgh, PA. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. Burial at Union Cemetery.

Oh Irene, I just heard about Uncle Harold. I am so sorry. My dad loved him so much. He meant the world to him. I will never forget being allowed to talk to Harold on the Ham Radio as a kid.
